Spring Break Youth Corps is a one-week, $300 paid internship position for seven high school students aged 16 and up. With Jefferson Land Trust staff and volunteers, students will learn about and undertake a variety of habitat enhancement and conservation activities on permanently protected nature preserves across East Jefferson County. Students will also learn about a variety of conservation and natural resources-related career paths from natural resource professionals and other local experts.

Applications are open now through March 24. To learn more and access the application form, please click here or visit saveland.org/youth-corps.

One of our 2022 Youth Corps alumni, Claire, had such a positive experience with the program that she returned to Jefferson Land Trust as a 2023 summer intern. She said, “When I did Youth Corps, I was like ‘Wow, this is exactly what I was looking for.’ I really enjoyed the experience.”

Claire and another student were tasked with documenting and photographing the 2022 Youth Corps’ week on the land by serving as Communications Officers and did a fantastic job logging the group’s activities through daily field reports and lots of great photos. Check it out here!
