The 20th Annual Jefferson County Farm Tour is coming September 16th – 18th, 2022! On Saturday the 17th and Sunday the 18th, Land Trust staff and Board members will have a table set up at Kodama Farm & Food Forest so please come by and say hello! We’re looking forward to joining our community in celebration of our amazing farms, awesome farmers, and fresh, locally grown farm products. (Note that Compass Rose Farms, where we were originally going to have a table has pulled out of the Farm Tour.)

In partnership with the community, Jefferson Land Trust has helped to permanently protect more 1,300 acres of farmland in Jefferson County, including five of this year’s participating farms: Chimacum’s SpringRain Farm & Orchard, Kodama Farm & Food Forest, and Finnriver Farm & Cidery; Sunfield Biodynamic Farm in Port Hadlock; and Compass Rose Farms in Port Townsend. Placing protective conservation easements on farmland ensures it will remain available as working farmland for all time, helps keep it affordable for the next generation of farmers, supports wildlife, and preserves the rural character, open space, and farming culture of Jefferson County.

The Farm Tour, which is produced by The Production Alliance, kicks off on Friday with an outdoor movie, Charlotte’s Web, at Worthington Park in Quilcene. On Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, everyone’s invited on a self-guided tour of farms across Jefferson County, with brochures and maps available the week before at the Land Trust office (1033 Lawrence Street, Port Townsend) and other local businesses. You can also pick them up during Farm Tour weekend at participating farms or at “Farm Tour Central” at the Chimacum Corner Farmstand (9122 Rhody Drive, Chimacum)

Participation is free, but there’s a suggested $10 donation per car, which you can pay at any of the farms or at Farm Tour Central. There will also be live music and workshops throughout the weekend. And of course, don’t miss the farmers markets — Saturday in Uptown Port Townsend and Sunday at the Chimacum Corner Farmstand.
