We’re proud to share that Jefferson Land Trust has been re-accredited by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission (an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance). The accreditation seal, which we’ve been able to proudly display since 2009, is a mark of distinction in the land conservation community. It’s awarded to land trusts that meet the highest national standards for excellence and conservation permanence.
“Being accredited is something we can all be proud of,” said Executive Director Richard Tucker. “Our community has worked hard to build a strong and vibrant land conservation collective and this mark of distinction ensures we’re operating at the highest standards.”

Accreditation is not a one time pursuit. Instead, it’s meant to be a tool to foster continuous improvement. That means land trusts must undergo the process every five years. As an organization, we’re committed to professional excellence and maintaining the community’s trust in our conservation work.
“The process of becoming accredited and then re-accredited is always rigorous and everyone on the board and staff has a role to play,” explained Richard. “In addition to our land protection practices, the commission thoroughly examines every aspect of our work. No detail is too small.”
