Work Party: Spurge Laurel Removal at Chai-yahk-wh Preserve

Date: 04/08/2025 | Starts: 10:00 AM | Ends: 1:00 PM

Work Party

Tuesday, April 8 • 10:00 am – 1:00 pm • Chai-yahk-wh Preserve •

Plant diversity is in, and spurge laurel is out! Help us seek out and dig out spurge laurel that threatens valuable habitat space. Please wear long pants and long sleeves (work gloves provided) as spurge laurel sap can irritate the skin.

Directions: Chai-yahk-wh Preserve is open from dawn until dusk and can be accessed via the entrance on Flagler Road across from Griffith Point Road. The entrance is located two miles past the “Welcome to Marrowstone Island” sign on the right side of the road. A small parking area lies just beyond the WSU Twin Vista Ranch (also protected with a Land Trust conservation easement). Please refrain from parking along East Marrowstone Road to ensure public safety.

Questions? Please reach out to Preserve Manager Carrie Clendaniel at cclendaniel[at]saveland.org.
