Strong Farms, Strong Futures!

Appeal Final Update: We closed the Strong Farms, Strong Futures appeal on Wednesday, May 13. Once again, you have amazed us with your generosity. In just two weeks, more than 130 people donated over $32,000.

A BIG thank you to all who gave so generously!

The 2020 Strong Farms, Strong Futures Appeal:

Joining friends and family at tables filled with nourishing, locally produced fruit, veggies, grains, meat, milk, wine, and cheese is a joy that will be made all the sweeter once we’re able to gather together again.

And stable access to nutritious local food is a gift for which we are deeply grateful.

But today, many of the local farmers who provide this food, along with many local families, are struggling — their livelihoods and futures threatened by COVID-19.

Strong Farms, Strong Futures was a targeted appeal to help farmers overcome immediate challenges, help local families put good, healthy food on the table, and help stabilize our local fresh food supply for many years to come through continued farmland protection.

  • Half of the gifts are supporting the Olympic Peninsula Farmer Fund, a rapid response initiative created by North Olympic Development Council in partnership with WSU Extension, Jefferson Land Trust, North Olympic Land Trust, local food pantries, and others. This program will contract with farmers for food to be provided to area food banks now and in the future.
  • Half of the gifts are supporting Jefferson Land Trust’s long-term farmland protection work so that local farms can continue to provide healthy, nutritious food to our community forever.
