Join the Geology Group on Saturday September 29th for a presentation by Dr. John Pallister on Volcanic Hazards. He will summarize examples of how, over the past 30 years, the Volcano Disaster Assistance Program has assisted foreign countries in monitoring their volcanoes and forecasting eruptions. This work has contributed to saving tens of thousands of lives and improving our understanding the risk from U.S. volcanoes, including risks to people on the ground and in the air, even in aircraft thousands of miles downwind.
Location: Port Townsend Aero Museum – 105 Airport Rd, Port Townsend, WA 98368
The presentation is free and open to the public, although a $10 donation to the Geology Group would be appreciated to defray expenses. No advanced registration required.
