Date: 01/28/2025 | Starts: 10:00 AM | Ends: 1:00 PM

Work Party

Tuesday, January 28 • 10:00 am – 1:00 pm • Chai-yahk-wh Preserve •

Nurse logs! Let’s create space for amphibians and new trees alike with a series of nurse logs in the alder-salmonberry forest of Chai-yahk-wh Preserve. Terrain will be uneven, through thick salmonberry, and very wet. We will be working in teams to maneuver 20-foot-long skinny logs into large cylinders that mimic old nurse logs. Rubber boots strongly recommended. Granola bars provided!

Directions: : Chai-yahk-wh Preserve is open from dawn until dusk and can be accessed via the entrance on Flagler Road across from Griffith Point Road. The entrance is located two miles past the “Welcome to Marrowstone Island” sign on the right side of the road. A small parking area lies just beyond the WSU Twin Vista Ranch (also protected with a Land Trust conservation easement). Please refrain from parking along East Marrowstone Road to ensure public safety.
