Learning on the land during a Land Trust field trip to Valley View Forest Preserve in 2023.
Are you interested in inspiring future generations to be good caretakers of our lands? At Jefferson Land Trust, we’re committed to educating our local students about the natural world and about how to protect our forests and streams forever. You can help by joining us as an education volunteer!
We’re currently seeking volunteers to help lead 3rd through 12th grade students who’ll be taking field trips to Jefferson Land Trust preserves this coming spring. Students from East Jefferson County will be learning about local ecosystems, healthy forests, salmon life cycles, and much more!
Field trips generally run between five to seven hours, and consist of leading classes through nature-based games and activities. No prior teaching experience nor training in natural resources are necessary. All volunteers will receive a one- to two-hour online training from Jefferson Land Trust on how to lead activities (training times are flexible to meet individual needs). We’ll also be holding an in-person training for new and returning education volunteers at Valley View Forest Preserve on Wednesday, February 12 (see below for details.)
All volunteers working with children must pass a background check.
If this opportunity sounds like a good fit for you and/or you’re interested in learning more, please reach out to info[at]saveland.org. Thank you!
