Brent A. Butler (he, him, his) sailed his 32-foot Islander Loralei to Port Townsend at the end of the last century (1999) and returned for employment as a Jefferson County Long Range Planner in 2004. As a Department Director with city or county governments in Idaho, California, and Washington responsible for planning, permitting and environmental review, he developed an interest in intertidal ecology and environmental ethics. Brent’s local volunteer work includes serving on the Port Townsend City Council and co-founding the Homeward Bound Community Land Trust with other concerned residents. He loves open water swimming and is frequently spotted in Port Townsend Bay and the Straits.
